Texel Density is a topic that many artists find intricate and puzzling, especially when striving for visual coherence in game environments. SwiftRes aims to simplify this process. If your mesh has been UV'd correctly—with minimal stretching and optimal use of UV space—this tool can help you identify the appropriate texture resolution without hassle.
SwiftRes works by analyzing both the surface area and UV area of the mesh. It then determines the optimal resolution based on the texel density standard you've selected (options include 5.12, 10.24, or 20.48).
It's worth mentioning that SwiftRes is tailored for prop meshes with proportionate UV shells and is not designed for use with meshes designed for unique texture density approaches, like tileable textures.
